5 HABITS that’ll change your life

Want to stop procrastinating? Want to stop complaining about how your life sucks, is always boring or nothing is going on in your life? I have a person who can help you with this. It’s YOU! There’s a quote in Marathi which says तूच आहेस तुझ्या जीवनाचा शिल्पकार” (translation) you are the sculptor of your life. Your life is an outcome of your actions and if you want to get your life back on track or to the next level then here are some easy steps/actions/tasks if done, will change the outcome i.e your life.

1.   Make a schedule

Scheduling your day is one of the first and most essential things to do. Make a to-do list for the day and schedule it according to your convenience.

This lets you decide how much time to invest in a particular thing. Scheduling helps you save time (which is the most expensive thing you own). Also, there are more chances of scheduled tasks being completed, than unscheduled tasks. It only takes a matter of minutes to make a schedule but this investment saves you hours! And if for some reason your plans for the day change, you can always reschedule. Scheduling teaches you time management, which if learned at an early age can help you in long run.

2.   Exercise

Exercise gets your body some movement, especially these days, when you are mostly home. Exercising for 20 minutes after you wake up makes you freshen up, lose your sleepy face, and gets you ready for the day.

You can choose to do a workout or yoga or simple stretching and warming up exercises. Joining a gym for a couple of months, getting buffed, and then not exercising later, isn’t going to keep your body in shape for long. On the other hand, if you exercise 15-20 minutes a day you’ll stay fit. Here, consistency is the key.

3.   Meditate

As your body needs to be in shape, so does your mind. The more calm and at peace you are, the better decisions you can make. Meditation helps you increase your concentration power and the more the concentration power the quicker you finish your work or understand a concept. Also meditating daily helps you control your emotions which actually control your day.

Your life is determined by your actions, and your actions in the past tense are thoughts. Your brain does the thinking. So, if you control your brain you control your thoughts, actions, and therefore, your life. And one of the efficient ways to control your brain is by MEDITATION.  Meditate for 15-30 minutes twice a day and you’ll see the change in you.

4.   Track your social media time and your phone usage time

This is more important for you than you think it is if you are even a little bit of a procrastinator. At times when you got nothing to do you try to check social media for memes and end up scrolling for longer than you expected. Excess of anything is poison and excessive use of social media does nothing but the three following things (according to my experience)

      1.   Wastes your time

      2.   Makes you sad

      3.   Strain your eyes  (due to excessive exposure to blue light)

Your phone does feed you a lot of crap that you don’t want in your head plus it takes away the most precious thing you own (TIME). Try a screen time app, check how much time you spend on your phone and maybe set a limit for the day and keep lowering it every couple of days. If you are earning money or learning something through your phone then do use it. But if you are using it for entertainment purposes then I would suggest you find an alternative.

THE MOBILE PHONE IS THE BEST INVENTION IN THE WORLD AND ALSO IT IS THE WORST INVENTION IN THE WORLD. IT ALL DEPENDS ON HOW YOU USE IT.

5.   Read

You can check out my other blog (2% investment) in which I’ve told you how you can just invest 30 min i.e 2% of your day and end up reading at least 3000 pages in a year which is 15 books of 200 pages. 15 books a year? That’s a lot of KNOWLEDGE gained by just investing a mere 2% of your whole year i.e just 7.3 days out of 365 days.

Knowledge is power and it lives till your last breath. In other words, you can’t un-know something once you know it. All the riches, READ! A well-read person has the potential to be rich. Reading can expand your thinking capacity and when your thinking expands, your house expands. Not showing your dream just stating the facts. Read comic books or story books if you want, BUT START READING!

So this is the list. These are the 5 habits/things that take on a total of about 2 hours of your day but can save you a lot of time and bring a massive change in your life and PERSONALITY.
